HY300 / HY300 Pro Replacement Remote

What it does and what it leaves out:

• Infrared, no pairing. It talks to the projector the way the original HY300 Pro remote does, so it works the moment the batteries are in.
• 15 keys. Power, direction pad, OK, back, home, menu and volume: the whole evening from switch-on to credits.
• Up to 40 feet. Plenty for a bedroom or a lounge, as long as nothing blocks the line of sight.
• No voice, no pointer. It will not replace the air-mouse tricks of a Pro+ or an Ultra.

The shell is plain black, the keys are the familiar HY300 Pro set, and there is nothing to charge. A pair of batteries in a remote like this runs for months of film nights.

Plenty of owners buy one before anything goes missing. A spare in the travel bag saves a trip screening when the original is left behind, and a second one stays on the nightstand for ceiling films.

The quickest check is the one on your coffee table. Put the old remote next to the photo of this one: if the keys sit in the same places, the codes almost certainly match. The model name on the projector's label settles any doubt.

The versions differ in ways that matter for some owners:

• Also fits the HY320. For homes that have both an HY300 Pro and Magcubic's HY320.
• ClokoWe layout. Made for the ClokoWe HY300 Pro+ and its Starry Sky key.
• Also fits some HY300 Ultras. Named for SKUOU and DreamFair Ultras, among others.
• Backlit keys. Easier to use in a dark room mid-film.
• With wall bracket. A holder so the remote always has a home.
• 2-pack. One for the bedroom, one for the bag.

Remotes for the Ultra family have their own layouts; the HY300 Ultra replacement remote covers those.

1. Slide off the battery cover and fit AAA batteries; they are not included, so keep a pair in the drawer.
2. Point the remote at the projector body with nothing in between.
3. Press power. The projector should wake within a second or two.
4. Try the direction pad and volume to confirm every key answers.

Infrared travels in a straight line, and that shapes how you use it. A duvet, a pillow or a person between remote and projector blocks the signal. For ceiling films, aiming at the projector itself works better than aiming at the picture overhead.

• Nothing happens. Check battery direction, then look at the remote's tip through a phone camera while pressing a key; a faint flicker means it is sending.
• Works only up close. Swap in fresh batteries, and move lamps or bright sunlight away from the projector.
• Some keys respond, others do not. The layout is close but not a match; that projector needs a different version.
• No reaction at all from a working remote. The projector is from a different family; check its model name.

Magcubic's own HY300 Pro+ ships with a voice air mouse, and the like-for-like voice remote is the one to reach for there. This IR remote is named for DreamFair's and SKUOU's Pro+ and Plus bodies, not Magcubic's. Without a pointer, typing app log-ins on any model is slower, so keep the phone app in mind for those.

Before ordering, check three things:

• Your model name. It sits on the projector's label and in its settings menu.
• Your old layout. Same keys in the same places means the same codes.
• The version. HY320 support, backlit keys or a 2-pack, if any of those matter.

Keep the replacement where the old one used to live. A small basket on the nightstand, or the wall-bracket version beside the light switch, keeps it off the floor and out of the sofa.
