The online update, often called OTA, downloads straight to the projector and installs itself. It is the safest route, because the file comes from the brand's own server and is matched to your model.

A USB update installs a firmware file from a memory stick instead of the internet. It is the route for a projector that cannot reach Wi-Fi or whose online update fails, and it is the riskier of the two, because nothing checks the file for you.
The rule is simple: only use a file your projector's brand sends you for your exact model. Magcubic and most other HY300 brands invite owners to contact support when something goes wrong, and that is where a local update file should come from, not a forum post for a different brand's HY300.
