Magcubic HY300 Pro (classic)

What sets it apart from the cheapest HY300 bodies:

• Dual-band Wi-Fi 6. Streams run on the 5 GHz band, with lower latency that also helps video calls on the big wall.
• Bluetooth 5.4. Headphones, speakers and soundbars pair on the current standard.
• 200 ANSI lumens, stated. A real brightness figure, where several rival bodies give none.
• 10000:1 contrast. Deeper blacks for films in a dark room.
• 180° swivel. Wall, ceiling or anywhere between, with automatic keystone squaring the picture.

The panel accepts a 3840 × 2160 signal and shows it at 1280 × 720. Streams, USB files and a laptop over HDMI all land on the same 720p picture, which looks clean at 80 inches in a dark room.

The swivel also makes it a meeting-room projector at a pinch: a laptop over HDMI, slides on a bare office wall, and the lights dimmed rather than off.

The built-in speaker handles a bedroom. For a lounge or a garden, a Bluetooth speaker makes a bigger difference to the evening than any picture setting.

Where the tripod earns its place:

• Behind the sofa. Stand it behind the seats, raise it to full height and tilt the lens slightly down; automatic keystone squares the result.
• In the garden. Level ground, a white sheet on the fence, and the picture clears the garden chairs.
• Beside the bed. Set it next to the headboard and point the lens at the ceiling for a film lying down.
• Folded away. It collapses for the cupboard between screenings.

Middle rows are approximate, taken from Magcubic's range. Outdoors, wait until the sky is fully dark before starting, and keep the projector out of the evening dew.

Stability drops as any tripod extends. On grass, press the legs well in, keep the power cable out of walkways, and keep children and dogs clear of the legs.

1. Update the system. Open the settings menu on Wi-Fi and install the latest version, as Magcubic recommends for the built-in apps.
2. Clean the lens. Use a dry microfibre cloth in small circles; a smear shows up as a soft glow around bright edges.
3. Clear the vents. Keep them free of cushions and blankets, and blow out dust gently if the fan gets louder.
4. Check the cables. A loose adapter plug is most often behind a projector that switches off mid-film.

The light source is rated for 50,000 hours. At a film every evening, that is decades of screenings. The projector draws 38 W, less than many table lamps with an old bulb.

For travel, a padded case keeps the lens glass free of scratches and the swivel joint safe from knocks inside a busy backpack.

Choose the classic for a garden-ready bundle and stated wireless specs at the lighter end of Magcubic's range. Choose the 2026 Pro if bag space decides everything. Step up to the Pro+ when the projector also has to be the speaker.

All three share the same 200 ANSI picture class, so the choice is never about sharpness. It comes down to where the projector spends its nights: on one shelf, in a weekend bag or on a tripod in the garden.

Before ordering, check these:

• Tripod or not. The bundle is the easy route when the lens has to rise above the audience.
• Focus. The wheel is by hand, so refocus whenever the projector moves; the HY300 Ultra adds electric focus.
• Wi-Fi band. A router with a 5 GHz network gets the most from Wi-Fi 6; on a crowded 2.4 GHz band, streams buffer more.
• Remote. A plain infrared backup costs little; the HY300 Pro replacement remote names Magcubic's HY300 Pro among its fits.
